Music of Film, Television and Broadway
Join us on Friday, December 9, 7:30 p.m. in the Miller Theater and enjoy an amazing performance by the Alfred University Symphonic Band, under the direction of Christopher Foster, as they perform music from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Doctor Who, Into the Woods, Hamilton and the music of John Williams and Alan Silvestri! December Informal Dance Showing

Informal Dance Showing includes AU Dance Program’s faculty and student creative work and compositions from independent choreographers. Limited seating.

December Informal Dance Showing

Come see what we have been working on in the dance department this semester! Two nights of performances and choreography. Each night of the informal dance showing will be a different program.

There will be solos created by the Composition 1 students, and dances performed by classes including Fundamentals of Dance, Jazz Dance, and New and Existing Repertory. The repertory class will perform a work created by American Master Choreographer Pearl Primus and a piece by AU Dance Faculty Colleen Culley. Angier and Culley will continue their duet exploration through a very short performance.

Environmental Studies Speaker- Russell Patterson

Russell Patterson is a ’99 alum who will be speaking on "From Fast Food to Fine Dining: Building your Franchise". Russell graduated from Alfred University with a BA in Environmental Studies and Public Administration and earned a Graduated Certificate in GIS from SUNY Albany in 2001.
Candy Cane Grams Sale

Shabbat Dinner

Hillel will be hosting a Chinese style Shabbat Dinner in honor of the upcoming X-mas Season! For those who are unfamiliar, Chinese restaurants were traditionally the only eatery open on Christmas. Thus the Jews flocked in great numbers to dine in such fine establishments. Similarly the Jews tend to go out to the movies after their Chinese food feast in order to digest.

Come join us for yummy food and a movie!

December Women’s and Gender Studies Roundtable
- Location: Judson Leadership Center

The next Women’s and Gender Studies Roundtable will be Friday, December 2, from 12:20-1:10 p.m. in the Judson Leadership Center. AU Engineering student, Meredith Laubert, will be presenting on the topic: "Coloring Our Future With Materials Engineering." While researching the material properties of crayons, Laubert returned to her middle and high schools to show girls and young women there that they could become engineers. The WGST roundtables are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Gala Opening Reception: Friday, October 28, 6-9PM



In celebration of the Alfred Ceramic Art Museum’s move to its magnificent new facility, the Museum will open its doors on October 28, 2016, with an exhibition entitled Core Sample. This exhibition will feature highlights from the permanent collection. A number of these works have not been on view in years. Core Sample is the first of many ambitious projects slated for the museum, which will reveal essential aspects of the Museum’s collection as well as chart new directions in ceramic art and scholarship.

02-Dec-16 — Health Fitness Management Major Receives Major Recognition

The Health Fitness Management major in the College of Professional Studies at Alfred University was recently recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). In providing educational program recognition, NSCA noted the program at Alfred University  is “one of only a handful of such recognized undergraduate programs in the state of New York and less than 150 throughout the world.”

02-Dec-16 — Alfred University Students' Rochester Work Featured on WXXI

Alfred University Director of Student Activities Dan Napolitano joined Alfred University student Mawia Elawad on WXXI television’s City Wise, broadcast Thursday, Dec. 1, and to be re-broadcast on WXXI-HD (Time Warner Cable) at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4.

Alfred University will host a performance of the Symphonic Band Friday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Miller theater. Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.

01-Dec-16 — Kirkus Reviews Highlights Alfred University Alumna Susan Beckhorn's Novel

Alfred University alumna Susan Beckhorn’s newest novel, The Wolf’s Boy, has been included on the Kirkus Reviews’ prestigious “Best Middle-Grade Books of 2016” list. The novel, Beckhorn’s fourth, tells the story of Kai, a boy growing up in a pre-historical setting, born with a crippled foot, and who adopts a motherless wolf pup as a friend.
