Travel to Belize with Tropical Ecology Class Allen Term
Interested in tropical ecology, evolution, and conservation biology? Travel to Belize with the Tropical Biology course during Allen Term 2016 (January 2017). Emphasis will be on the structure, function, and conservation of rainforest and coral reef ecosystems and the species that comprise those systems. Excursions on the trip include a canoe float on Sibun River, visit to Altun Ha and Community Baboon Sanctuary, jaguar reserve night hike, snorkeling in the South Water Caye Reserve, and more. Come to an information session on Tuesday, September 6 at 5:30pm or Wednesday, September 7 at 12:30p.m. in Science Center 303 for more information. Contact Dr. ZD - zimbler@alfred.edu
New York Times available to you!
Herrick Library subscribes to the online version of the New York Times. Essentially it provides individual access to newyorktimes.com for each AU community member (students, faculty and staff). This subscription includes the whole content of the Times, including charts, graphs and illustrations. To set up your personal access, go to the Herrick home page: http://herrick.alfred.edu and, from the Search block in the upper left corner, choose Databases A-Z. Then scroll down to New York Times and follow the instructions. Enjoy!
Reminder: Chronicle of Higher Education ONLINE!
Alfred University has an online subscription to the Chronicle of Higher Education. You can access it through the Herrick Library Home Page by selecting it from the Databases A-Z list. You can access it at any time, wherever you are -- if you're off campus you will need to log-in using your AU username and password. If you're on campus -- you can go to the Herrick site, or go to http://chronicle.com directly.

A bipartisan panel of Alfred University faculty and members of the community will examine the probable outcomes of the November 2016 election, headlined by the race between the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and the Republican candidate Donald Trump for the Presidency of the United States.  “Election 2016: A Panel Discussion” is planned for 12:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, in Nevins Theater, Powell Campus Center.

Two Alfred University faculty members who share an interest in glass, but with different approaches to the material will present at the Centenary Conference of the Society of Glass Technology, to be held Sept. 4-8 in Sheffield, England.
