Open Access Week: Lunchtime Webinars
October 24-28 is Open Access Week, a global event promoting free, unrestricted online access to the results of scholarly research. The Alfred University Libraries will be broadcasting a series of SUNY webinars at lunchtime throughout the week. Feel free to bring your lunch. You have seen announcements for events to raise money for Alfred University's effort to raise $15,000 to install a clean drinking water well in a rural village in Haiti and you will see more announcements in the days and weeks to come. Lots of events on and off campus! Core Sample
Alfred Ceramic Art Museum: Core Sample Opens October 28, 2016 Gala Opening Reception: Friday, October 28, 6-9PM In celebration of the Alfred Ceramic Art Museum’s move to its magnificent new facility, the Museum will open its doors on October 28, 2016, with an exhibition entitled Core Sample. This exhibition will feature highlights from the permanent collection. A number of these works have not been on view in years. Core Sample is the first of many ambitious projects slated for the museum, which will reveal essential aspects of the Museum's collection as well as chart new directions in ceramic art and scholarship.

Organ Spectacular IV - Music Showcase
- Location: Alfred Seventh Day Baptist Church, Alfred, NY
- Time: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
This music department showcase to raise funds for the community pipe organ will feature Bach’s Toccata in C Major for organ, Gigout’s Grand Choeur Dialogue for brass and organ, and works with strings, woodwinds, percussion, and voice.

Bagel Brunch (in the Sukkah)

Hillel will be brunching in the sukkah! There will be bagels, lox, cream cheese, and more! Bring a friend! (all the cool kids will be there)
Fall Retreat
- Location: Camp Turner
- Time: All Day
Enjoy a relaxing weekend away from campus at Camp Turner, located in the heart of Allegany National Forest. A retreat is a great chance to refocus, with time for reflection, prayer, and no shortage of fun - including time to explore the Camp’s 65,000 acres and 2 mountain lakes.

The retreat is Friday, Oct. 21 - Sunday, Oct. 23. Please RSVP by Friday, Oct. 14 so we can plan meals and rides, via email or at our website ( You DO NOT need to be Catholic to attend - ALL are welcome!

ALFRED, NY (Oct. 13, 2016) – Molly Barker, the founder of Girls on the Run and a four-time Hawaii Ironman triathlete, will deliver the 2016 Pamela Lavin Bernstein Women of Influence lecture on Nov. 3 at 6:30pm in Nevins Theater. The event is free and open to the public.
