30-Jun-16 — Zupan begins tenure as Alfred University's 14th president

Twenty weeks ago at a campus-wide meeting on the Alfred University campus, Mark Zupan, former dean of the University of Rochester’s Simon Business School and most recently the director of the Bradley Policy Center, as well as the Olin Professor of Economics and Public Policy at Simon, was announced as the Board of Trustees’ choice to succeed Charles M. Edmondson as the president of the University.

For Graham Marks, who earned his Master of Fine Arts degree in ceramic art in 1976 and went on a successful career as an artist and educator, having his work included in an exhibition opening this week at the Andrea Rosen Gallery, 525 W. 24th St., New York, NY, is “particularly wonderful.”

23-Jun-16 — Stephens, Cormack tapped to fill interim, administrative appointments

W. Richard Stephens Jr., provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at Alfred University (AU), added another role today: He will serve as acting vice president for Statutory Affairs, making him head of the New York State College of Ceramics at the University.

23-Jun-16 — CACT represented at state session

Dr. Matthew M. Hall, Alfred University (AU) associate professor of biomaterials and glass science and Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology (CACT) director, and Dr. Timothy J. Keenan, CACT project manager, were in attendance at the New York State Additive Manufacturing Scoping Session held at the General Electric’s Global Research Center in Niskayuna, NY earlier this month to discuss the potential for ceramic materials in the additive manufacturing industry.
